Make Art

This summer I want you to MAKE ART, THINK ABOUT ART and LOOK AT ART

MAKE ART

Sketchbook:
Create art from the Sketchbook Project list
Serious artists keep a dedicated sketchbook that includes evidence of your thinking, experimenting, practice, working & research.
You or I provide the sketchbook and materials are completely your choice.
*Design option- Alter the attached projects to suit your interests and create or stay dedicated to Pinterest or Collections on Behance. LOOK A LOT. FIND A LOT.

Summer Projects:
Artists keep making art over the summer.

Summer Project Possibilities
These projects are to get you exploring content, media and ideas.
Size of work can vary between 4x6  to 18 x 24 inches.
  1. Create 2 self–portrait or still life pieces using a media of your choice. Each project should explore a different idea. One- who am I to other people? Two- who am I for “real”. What images/objects/colors might you use to represent these sides of yourself?

  1. Deconstruct a Cereal box or product box. Start with an entire box and cut it into as many shaped/sized pieces as you like. Reconstruct it (using part of the box as the ground on which to glue the shapes) and create an interesting composition that has strong composition, color, contrast, harmony and repetition. How can you make something new from something old or unimportant?

  1. Create a piece about a social issue. It can be something very personal and close to you (something you personally deal with) or something very large, all encompassing and global (population, climate, etc) Think about the message you want to send and how you choose to do so. What message do you want to send?

  1. Make a piece that involves hands. You can draw yours, draw others, create a design with them, interpret gestures or signs. Will your piece be meaningful or just interesting to look at?

  1. If none of these are appealing to you, return with at least three projects that are extremely mindful of the Principles of Art by using the Elements.  (Line, Shape, Value, Texture, Color, Form, Space  showing…
Balance, Emphasis, Rhythm/Movement, Contrast, Variety, Depth, Proportion, Unity/Harmony)
Elements > LINE           SHAPE            VALUE           SPACE          TEXTURE              COLOR
Principles > BALANCE         REPETITION        VARIETY          RHYTHM/MOVEMENT          UNITY          CONTRAST        EMPHASIS         PROPORTION/SCALE
